Departing from Moshi a 45-minute drive will take you through the Village of Marangu to the
Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. We will patiently wait for our permits to be issued while watching
the hustle and bustle of operations as many crews prepare for the journey ahead Enjoy the beautiful
rainforest scenery and windy trails while your guide tells you about the local flora and fauna and
natural wildlife. At these lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and quite slippery. We highly
recommend gaiters and trekking poles here.

Today’s hike takes you from the verdant rainforest into the stark alpine zone, as you’ll cover more
than 11 kilometres on your way to the Maundi Crater.
You’ll set off bright and early today, as you’ve got a long day of hiking ahead of you!
If the weather is clear, you’ll find stunning views of Kibo Glacier from here before settling down
for the evening.

It’s another big day of hiking today, as you’ll make your way to Kibo Hut to set up camp ahead of
your summit.
Climbing almost 1,000m, you’ll pass your last watering point at the 4,130m mark before arriving
at Kibo Hut in the afternoon. Remember to drink plenty of water during your early dinner, as you’ll
be up bright and early tomorrow to begin your ascent to the summit!

Around midnight, awake for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa. The hike begins
with a demanding five hour hike to Gillman's Point on the crater rim. Although this is considered
to be the easiest of the three crater ascent paths, it is still extremely difficult. The first major rest
stop, William's Point, lies at 5000 meters and is approximately a two hour hike Kibo Hut. Continue
on for thirty minutes before beginning the rocky switchbacks that will continue to Gillman's Point
(5,681 meters).
The hike from Gilman's to Uhuru Peak is a gradual climb and as far as hikes go, not very difficult.
The altitude, however, makes the hike long and tiring. The crater rim hike takes approximately two
hours. Upon reaching Uhuru, take photos of your guide and group at the peak before beginning the
descent to Horombo Hut.
On the way down from the summit, you will see all of the magnificent views you could not see on
the way up. Stop for a short break and snacks at Kibo Hut before continuing on to Horombo Hut.
Reach Horombo Hut in the afternoon and enjoy your last night on the mountain.

You will be offered a warm breakfast in the morning, after which we will head for the Kilimanjaro
National Park's exit: Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After your descent the whole group will gather to
congratulate you, and then you will have the chance to share your opinions on the trip in the
guestbook. Lastly, we will present you with your commemorative certificates (in our office) and
provide you a transfer back to the hotel.
